Hello ladies! I know dating in LA can be very difficult but finding something to do within a small budget can be even more difficult. Here are some ideas to take the stress away from finding something to do, so you can enjoy your company. These are great non-traditional ways to get to know each other. NO more dinner and a movie, it’s time to switch it up.
This is LA so there is always something going on on every street corner, but everything in LA is very expensive This blog post is for the boss babe who is trying to stack her coins but still have a good time! For the most part we expect men to take us out, and to plan and pay for the date, but every now and then I think it’s a great idea to take your man out on a date, on YOU! Show them that you appreciate them and you are just as into them as they are you.
Here are some great date ideas that you can add personal touches to, to really look like you put thought into your date. These are great ideas, not just for those in a relationship but also those in the very beginning of the “get to know each other stage”.
If you and your man are into a romantic evening theses are great date options.
Malibu Wine Tasting Room / Malibu Wine and Beer Garden
This is a perfect way to customize your date and Malibu provides you with a beautiful backdrop and ambiance. It is an intimate setting, giving you plenty of time to get to know each other and have an engaging conversation over a nice glass of wine.
They are open daily from 11am to 7pm and they strongly encourage reservations as this is a very popular outing and there are no guarantees for walk-ins. Parking is FREE at 32111 Mulholland Hwy and the shuttle will pick you up and take you to the tasting room. They don’t serve food but you can bring your own food, so, perfect time to show off those wifey cooking skills you have ;). Admission is free but you do have to buy a bottle of wine when you get there, or you can enjoy a flight of wine for $12-14. Outside alcohol is not allowed.
If your date is more of a beer drinker don’t worry because they have something for him too. The Malibu Wine and Beer Garden is perfect. They do have a place to order food and drinks, of course.
Open Sun-Thurs 10am-7pm
Address: 23130 Sherman Way West Hills, CA 61307
I would also suggest making a reservation for this location as well, there is nothing worse than to have to wait around while you are trying to impress your date. You want to make sure everything is all lined up.
This is a small park with a big personality. If you are looking for some physical, but cute activities this is the place. This park has pedal boats in the shape of swans, which give a magical element to your date. Wear comfortable shoes and don’t go on a date when it’s too hot because you will be sweating! Sunset is a perfect time to go, you can also bring some wine with you and enjoy the views from inside the swan. This is the perfect way to see how you both communicate, as you are both pedaling someone has to steer the boat, it’s a great way to get to know each other.
Open daily 9am-10pm
The boats are $11 hourly
751 Echo Park ave Los Angeles, CA 90026
Parking is street parking but after your boat ride you can have a little picnic or walk around the park. ( Only if you are really enjoying his company)
Ohhh this one is one of my favorites, as it can be a little bit of a pain to get up there but definitely worth it. At the Observatory you can look through telescopes, explore exhibits, see live shows but the real reason why this place is so popular is because you have a spectacular view of Los Angeles from the top of the hill. This is so romantic as you can also bring food with you and hangout during the day until sunset and watch the twinkle of the lights at night.
Admission is always FREE
Open Tuesday- Friday 12pm- 10pm
Saturday - Sunday 10am- 10pm
Venice Beach Bike Ride
This is a perfect way to show off a little of your sporty side and can even make it a little friendly competition. Venice beach is such a nice location as you are close to the water but far enough away to enjoy the view. The weekends can be really busy, so if you are a nervous rider like me i would say to go a little further out to avoid as many people as you can. This is a great way to bond with your date and to see how athletic he is ;)
$11 per bike around $22
Open daily 10am - 6pm
Saturday- Sunday- 9am - 6pm
Parking is always a pain in this area but if you get lucky you can find street parking otherwise you can park in the lot for $9.
All these dates are very much within budget and you will still have a few dollars left over. These ideas are great to show the man you're dating just how special he is to you. They are also customizable, so make sure you give yourself enough time to plan for one of these adventures. VERY affordable but still guaranteed to have a good time. This post is the definition of balling on a budget!
Here are some other ideas that I want to share but didn’t make the post
If you and your man are into The Arts then museums are always a hit.
La Brea Tar Pits
If you and your man are into outdoor physical activities in the elements here are some suggestions.
Hiking at Runyon Canyon or Culver City/ Santa Monica stairs ( you have to be able to trust him on this date)
Beach for a little bonfire at Dockweiler or Zuma beach in Malibu for some relaxation or play some beach volleyball
If you and your man are looking for a chill night, you can’t go wrong with a movie to then finding a spot to talk afterwards and see each other perspectives.
El Capitan Theatre (Hollywood royalty, you can still get dressed up and enjoy a night at the theatre)
Drive -in Movie
Roof Top movie, which is a Summer time favorite
I hope this post serves you well and you step outside of your comfort zone and ask him out at least once and really WOW him with all the thought you had behind it. Show them how it’s done! By the way, DON'T ever let a guy get away with not taking you out, as I have proved there are plenty of things to do under $40 for 2 people in LA!
